2024 Christmas Giving Project: A Ministry Partnership
The 2024 Christmas Giving Project shines a light on an exciting and impactful ministry partnership between us, Mission Possible, and the Iglesia Bautista Cristiana Mocha Church in the Dominican Republic (D.R.). This collaboration aims to support the growing congregation led by Pastor Henry, who has been holding services and discipleship meetings for both his congregation and Haitian refugees in his home. This act of love and unity is particularly bold given the historical tensions between the two communities in the D.R..
Building a Worship and Training Center
Due to the increasing number of attendees, Pastor Henry’s home can no longer accommodate the congregation effectively. In response, the church is planning the construction of a worship and training center on land acquired through the generous contributions of local congregants. The new center will not only serve the local community, but also provide a venue for training and encouraging pastors from across the D.R., who attend Pastor Henry’s conferences.
The Role of the Family of Churches
We have the opportunity to help fund phase one of this important project. This phase covers the groundbreaking and construction of the first-floor meeting space of the center. Future phases will expand the facilities and include a second floor with dormitory rooms for visiting pastors and ministry partners. Our goal for this year’s Christmas Giving Project is to help raise funds toward the $50,000 needed to complete Phase 1.
Privilege and a Partnership
Supporting this project is a true privilege. It allows us to partner with an inspiring congregation in the D.R., to share resources and learn from one another to further God’s kingdom in a region that lacks many of the comforts found in the U.S. We are excited about the potential of the long-term relationship we are building with the Iglesia Bautista Cristiana Mocha Church.
Recently, a men’s mission team visited the church for evangelism, a pastors’ conference, and local projects. This visit helped to strengthen the bond of love and fellowship between our communities. We anticipate offering many related mission trip opportunities for those interested in participating from our family of churches.
